It’s Getting Cold

It really is getting cold now! I know for a fact that I’ve not been on my bike as much as I should have. Come to think of it, it’s been a couple of weeks since I was last perched on a saddle and even then, it was on the rollers.

Now that we’re well into November and, I don’t think I’ve seen the temperature above 6 or 7 degrees, I am finding it very difficult to swing my leg over the bike and get peddling. I just don’t seem to have any enthusiasm for riding at the moment. Come to think of it, I’ve not been very enthusiastic about anything apart from watching numerous episodes of Castle, Harry Potter and Gotham on Netflix.

Last Sunday was the worst. It was a lovely day, a little on the cold side, but the sun was shining, providing a perfect opportunity for a crisp Autumn ride. But all I did was slob out in front of the TV in the warm house, enjoying a nice cup of coffee and a chocolate orange. Actually, that doesn’t sound too bad and thinking about it, I made the right choice. In my defence, I have to say that I have been extremely busy at work and sometimes I could just do with a day of doing nothing. The problem is, I then feel just as tired and lethargic as if I’d actually been doing something.

I have no doubt that as soon as I walk out of the front door, with a bike, and get over the slightly low temperatures, I’ll be hooked again. Come to think of it, what I should do, is get myself down to the Velodrome and put in a few laps around the track. At least it would be indoors and more interesting than staring out of the window while on the rollers going nowhere.

Have you ever gone through a rough patch and not been on the bike for a while?

Until next time.

Jack
