As promised, I have shaved my legs! For those of you who don’t know, when I was raising money for a charity called Debra, I’d set myself a target of £500 and I may have said that, if I managed to hit it, I would shave my legs in an attempt to look like a real roadie.
As it was the most amount of money I’d attempted to raise I wanted to try and provide an incentive for people to support me. The results speak for themselves, I nearly doubled my target and reached £920! Wow and thank you to everyone who donated. I really couldn’t have done it all without you.
Unfortunately, it meant that I had to keep my word and break out the razor, well two actually. Some people did suggest that I wax my legs, but I wasn’t so keen. My wife wasn’t keen on me having smooth legs. I think she was worried they’d look better than hers.
Once shaved, they looked quite good, especially when the lycra went on. They took a bit of getting used but I was amazed at how smooth they were. I guess that’s what happens after 27 years of not shaving. Still, when out on the road bike they made me look very professional… ish.. I’ve also found that I don’t feel the cold as much without the hairs. I’ve no idea if that’s supposed to be the case or not, maybe that’s just me.
Needless to say, there were a few entertaining reactions from friends and family. Especially from my wife, who kept looking at my legs and decided that she definitely didn’t like them and said she preferred them hairy. Some said that my shaved legs looked pretty good and some didn’t really know what to say.
I said I’d take photo evidence and show you all, just in case no one believed me. I’m sure you can work out which one is which.
During the event up in Yorkshire, I fit right in as there were actually quite a few men with silky smooth, hairless legs. The question now is, do I keep them shaved?
Until next time.
