It really isn’t long now until my main ride of the year. 4 days to be exact. I’m feeling pretty happy about it, don’t get me wrong I still have worries about not finishing or struggling half way round and not enjoying it. But I can’t let those thoughts get the better of me now. No point. Plus I do know that I’m very excited to get to the start and set off.
Last weekend I did about 60 miles over the course of two days, 45 on the road bike and about 15 on the mountain bike in the Peak District, so plenty of climbing involved! For the rest of the week, I’m just planning a short 20-mile road ride, probably later today just to keep my legs spinning and then that’ll be it until the event itself.
As you can imagine, I’ve been checking the weather forecast as often as I can for Sunday. At the moment, it looks like it’ll be around 19 °C, slightly cloudy with maybe around a 50% chance of rain. I’d be fairly happy as long as it didn’t rain too much, however, the great British summer may have other plans in mind, so I’ll keep checking and make sure I’ve got kit for all occasions.
The only other thing to do is make it through the rest of the week and turn up with my bike on the start line on Sunday morning. I can’t wait!
What do you do with one week to go before a big ride?
Until next time,
