My Track Bike Update

A couple of weeks ago I talked about having a bike day. Not a day of riding but a day where I managed to spend a bit of time giving some of my bikes some TLC and a few upgrades. One of these bikes was my track bike.

When I bought it, I came across a picture of the same bike but it had different wheels, saddle etc… It looked fantastic and I thought to myself that I’d love mine to look similar. I finally got around to making a start on the upgrades and changing the look.

Beforehand, the bike had all stock components; stock wheels, stock gearing, etc… The only things that were changed were the tyres. Still, it was all in pretty good condition and it allowed me to get on the track with my own bike.

The upgrades included, as you can see from the picture, some new wheels. They look much better and are a lot lighter than the original ones. The other thing that I decided to change was the gearing. I bought myself a new rear sprocket with fewer teeth on it; 14 to be precise. The old sprocket had 16. This was just a small change but after a quick go on the rollers, it made a big difference.

The bike itself looks much better, it’s lighter and quicker and, to me, it looks more professional. There are still a few things that I’d like to do, such as a bigger chainring at the front and replace the seatpost with a carbon one, but those things can wait.

I’m not sure what it is about this bike but from the first time I saw it I fell in love with it. Now with its new wheels, I can’t take my eyes off it and I can definitely say its one of my favourite bikes. I can’t wait to get this on the track.

What was the last upgrade you fitted to your bike?

Until next time.
