Happy New Year everyone! I can’t believe that 2018 has been, come and gone. Looking back on my Strava, it’s been a pretty good year for me. We’ll ignore the mid-year crash…
I was extremely pleased that I’d successfully managed to achieve my target of 1000 miles for the year. That may not seem like much for some, but you have to start somewhere. Still, no time like the present, the new target for 2019 is going to be 1500 miles, and just for a bit of fun, I’m also going to aim for over 50,000 ft of climbing. I’m hoping that I can achieve both and that it’s not just a case of biting off more than I can chew. I guess time will tell.
The plan for 2019, in terms of riding, is still very much up in the air. I know I’m going to be doing a 100-mile ride or at least attempting to. I believe Will has a few other Sportives in mind which will hopefully help with achieving my mileage goal and maybe increase my fitness. Otherwise, it’s just going to be a case of getting out and riding. As long as it puts a smile on my face, I know I’m doing something right.
The usual plan of getting fitter and faster on a bike still applies, and thanks to my parents I now have a book by Sir Chris Hoy to tell me how to do it. I’m very much looking forward to reading it and understanding where I can improve; I might as well learn from one of the best. I’m sure I’ll have something to say about it on here too.
I can’t wait to get started with this year and I’m already excited to get some miles in. Even if the weather is still a little cold.
